Drummer, Dexter Girard,
from Lafayette Louisiana has been with Dean Scott off and on since the 1970s. In the 1960s, as a teenager, he began his music career in
Lafayette, Louisiana, listening to and sitting in with G G Shinn, Jerry La Croix and the Boogie Kings. From there he worked the Gulf Coast
Circuit where he played with numerous groups.
Dexter worked in the French Quarter in New Orleans for a couple of years and from there went to Bogaloosa where he did session work
at "Studio Out in the Country". Here he met Angel South, formerly with the Bill Chase Band. Dexter joined Angel's band, and moved to Denver,
Colorado. In 1973 the band, "Cottonwood South", recorded an album for Columbia Records, produced by legendary producer, Paul Rothchild,
(Doors, Janis Joplin, and Crosby Stills&Nash).
Meeting Dean in 1975 began a long business and personal relationship. The Dean Scott band could be seen playing from Las Vegas to Montreal, Canada,
to Los Angeles California, and playing the Seniors Golf Tour for many years.
When not on tour with Dean, Dexter, can be found playing various types of music throughout the state of Texas, including Czech, Polka,
Blues, and his heritage, Authentic Cajun Music. Dexter enjoys relaxing with his wife, kids, grandkids, and dogs at their "J & D" Ranch in East Texas.
